Merced’s Five Ten Bistro Participating in New Designated Driver Mobile App
Being chosen as designated driver might not be all that bad anymore. With a mobile app designed to treat designated drivers “like the VIP they are,” sober driving can have an excitement of its very own.

App users are now able to have as much fun as the friends who are drinking by finding the deals through DDVIP. Those drinking can breathe a few sighs of relief knowing that they have secured a sober driver.

Five Ten Bistro, located at 510 West Main Street in Merced, is participating on the DVVIP app.

DDVIP is an iOS and Android app set up by the California Office of Traffic Safety. It is partnered with a number of local bars around California allowing users to “Map a Spot” with their current location to find the participating establishments in the area, or a “List of Spots” to search all participating bars and restaurants throughout California.

The goal is to reward, celebrate, and encourage those who have been chosen as designated driver for the night with offers varying from location to location.

“One Free DDrink,” which is non alcoholic, is generally what is offered from each location.

From the homepage, designated drivers are able to select the participating bar they are at and redeem the offers made specially for the drivers.

Also through the app, those who want to go out but also make it a point to plan ahead, users can easily order a sober ride from Uber, Lyft or Curb – all from one screen.

Restaurants, venues, or other types of businesses can join DDVIP by contacting lmomet@prosiopr.com or 916-251-1287.

The app is available for iOS and Android operating systems and is offered as a free download to users.
