MERCED COUNTY, CA - The state Employment Development Department said Friday that the unemployment rate for November stood at 10.9 percent in Merced County, which is a significant increase of 1.9 percent. October's unemployment rate was at 9.09 percent. Seasonal jobs like farming accounted for the largest dip in the numbers, with an estimated loss of 3,400 jobs. Non farm related jobs registered a loss of 800 jobs.
Though the November, 2015 employment rate in Merced rose it was still lower against last year's month-to-date figure of 11.9 percent.
